About
Born in Alpharetta, Georgia, and based in Loxley, Alabama, Mitchell Dembowski is a visionary artist focused on his subjective and interior life. His work is realized through a Jungian technique known as Active Imagination. This technique revolves around the activity of daydreaming and employing waking fantasies in order to bring about a sort of alchemical transformation. His aim as an artist is to establish and record an ongoing dialogue between himself and the unconscious; taking this sort of abstract nebulous potential and grounding it in a physical reality. Through this rapport with himself he has conceived a personal myth filled with figures and places of his imagination. These figures and psychological landscapes not only serve as a window into his personal unconscious, but also allow for the healthy integration of such an inner life. Through his work he gives these inner images honor and consideration.
